The new album by Camilla Ringquist – VESPERALE – is recorded, mixed and produced by Elias.
On September 1 1939 German troops entered Poland. This was the beginning of World War II and the moment when the Polish countess Krystyna Skarbek made her choice to be part of the resistance movement against the occupying power.
Camilla Ringquist, Swedish composer and artist, now releases her new album ”VESPERALE” – the extraordinary life journey of Krystyna Skarbek told through music. ”While I was reading about this exceptionally brave woman, many images came to mind. Visual images that became music, telling this fascinating life story of Krystyna Skarbek and her bravery.”
Krystyna Skarbek made great contributions during World War II, serving as an agent for the British SOE (Special Operations Executive) among other things. She was decorated with the medals Croix de Guerre and OBE (Officer of the British Empire) as well as other awards. Winston Churchill named her his favourite spy. While working she used different names and she is also known as Christine Granville and Pauline Armand. Her father called her Vesperale – the evening star – which became the title of the album.
The past year, Camilla Ringquist and Peter Brandqvist (president of the Swedish Polish Association) have been developing this enthralling project – a stage show that will premiere in early 2024 – where the storytelling blends with Camilla´s original music.
This is a collaboration with the Polish Institute in Stockholm.
”VESPERALE” is now available on Spotify and other digital platforms.
